THE KINGS HEAD AN IMPORTANT PART OF THE COMMUNITY

The village itself has a great location, just 35 miles north of London (served by Stansted Mountfitchet railway station) and also just a couple of miles away from Stansted Airport.

Stansted (meaning ‘stony place’ in Anglo-Saxon) was a Saxon settlement, predating the Norman conquest, and was ruled by Robert Gernon de Montfichet (from Montfiquet in Calvados, Normandy), from where the village gets its name.

HISTORICAL BUILDINGS AND BEAUTIFUL SURROUNDINGS

Local attractions include Mountfitchet Castle, a replica built on the site of Norman Motte and Bailey castle, the House on the Hill Toy Museum (reportedly the world's largest toy museum); the village also boasts the beautiful 12th century St Mary the Virgin's Church, as well as rolling countryside walks right on the doorstep.
